Thanks Guys

why don't you get a bigger second hand one

for that amount you could get a good one.

we have a 5m coast runner also our first new boat it rides smooth

if you diside on a second hand one i would recomend a aluminum express we had a 4.8 m one about 5 6 years ago they, in my eyes, are the best second hand and new boats around.

Mermaid - Bigger is not always better. It depends on personal circumstance. You need to decide just how bigger boat you can handle - not just on off the trailer but towing, room at home etc.

Second hand boats are great if you get a good one and if your circumstance as above permits you will be able to get a bigger boat second hand for the money but no warranty.

Everyone has their opinions on the quality of Quintrex and how they look after problems (have a look back through this section) but if your budget is set to what you are willing to spend then have a good look around before you commit. Definitley go to the boat show and look over all of them - have a look at the small fishers as well - dont get much safer than them in that size.

I would chose a plate boat over a rolled alloy boat anyday but that is just an opinion - one of many you will get here.

Life is better with any boat ;D ;D ;D

Cheers

also have a look around your local boat ramps on a good day. You should get to see heaps of different boats and might get a chance to talk to their owners. Mooloolaba - both South and North sides - see alot of boat traffic on a good day. Take your time to make a decision and decide what type of fishing you will mainly be doing so you can make sure your boat will suit. 4.6 m is plenty big enough IMHO to get out to the close reefs on a good day and is a good size for the estuaries. Owning a boat for the first time is a big learning curve and there are alot of mistakes to be made. A smaller cheaper boat can always be upgraded to a bigger boat is a few years time. Nothing wrong with buying second hand - there is alot of depreciation in boats within the first year or two.

Good luck,

Jeremy

Hey
Have got a 455coastrunner which is the model before the 460. It has a 50hp merc on it and is an excellent boat for all purposes. It gets used for pulling single skiers, chasing tuna offshore, draws bugger all water so is great for esturie fishing n puttin crab pots out. Flat out it does about 32mile/hour n cruises at about 23 -25 nicely. The millenium hull is a godsend to the boat n handles most things you can through at it. Gets used mostly used at noosa during holiday time and has done many a crossing of the noosa bar with no dramas.Just make sure you dont attemtp anything your not comfortable or confident with. have added a hydrfoil to it to get it out of the hole quicker, which helped alot. There easy to handle at the boat ramp n most of the time you'll drive it straight on the trailer. It tracks around corners like a dream n gets onto the plane with no effort at all. With 5 adults in board it will get up on the plane but takes a bit, once your up its no worries at all. Ive looked at the newer 460's and they look like an excellent boat with nice interior and better layout than its previous model.
Ne ways hope thats a bit of help to you
Happy shopping n boating
Cheers Matt
