Yesterday started the 25 yammy up at home and it wouldnt pump any water. Began with earmuffs which usually always works. Anyway stuffed some wire up there tosee if the mud wasps ahd gotten in there but nothing came out it was all clear. Thought the earmuffs might not be enough so I stuck the leg in a bin full of water and started it up. Still no water pumping out. Got a bit worried thought the impella might be stuffed. So too it down to the ramp put it in and started it up and it began pumping stratight away.

I was happy that it was pumping but I cant figure out why it wont at home. I can understand the earmuffs but it should bump in the barrel. Is my impella on the way out or something. Some advice or info would be great.

Thanks Dan

Hi Dan,
Had the same problem & did the same things & all I could put it down to was a biuld up inside one of the ports & the mixture of water & travelling along the road loosened the blockage, still have the same impellor & had no further problems

I stuffed a perfectly good impeller that way on the muffs once:( My theory is an air pocket existed around the impeller and inside the housing until the water level is forced high enough on the hose or from dunking then it simply spun air, for some reason it didn't at all that time :-[
After that incident and a new impeller I used exactly the same procedure many many times with exactly the same equipment, same engine, same house, same tap etc water pressure the same also without a moments problem ??? Just one of those things I guess! still hoping to fall over the reason one day.

The water MUST! cover the impeller housing. just letting it up to the cav plate will result in 1 burnt pump!

are u getting any big mac's up there yet?

It was covering the housing. As for big macs have seen some monsters diving (one swam past me about 25kg) but nothing on the line. Bit early yet though havnt seriuosly chased em with wolfies so I cant say. Should have had a go yesterday but the missus wouldnt go out to sea had to ut up with pulling up pots full of big rusty bucks which have been running. Bythe way motor ran like a beauty all weekend (thats both JB)
