Hi,

I was after some clarification on the type of bolts to use when mounting a 175hp engine onto the transom. I have been given 2 options the first is to use High tensile galvanised bolts and the other Stainless Steel.

I would appreciate any feed back.

I have had no problem with stainless mounting to a transom except the need to nip them up because they are a bit plastic next time I may use either a steel gr 5 or 8 with some form of passivation {sp}to protect the bolt when I mount my setback pod.

That 175 is a big ticket item . I would see if I could get original manufacturers bolts - stainless of course . e.g. Yamaha supply original bolts in short and long to suit their motors so I assume others would also . No issues with strength etc. that way .
