For real insurance and value RACQ. Members and clubs get additional discount etc etc
Make sure have specified $ coverage for hull, trailer, motor etc. Else your claim will be depeciated to ZERO (hence the DANGER of the cheapest insurance at ClubMarine!).
Will your insurance cover a blown motor 'cos you sucked up a platic bag? (some say this was not an accident so YOU PAY!!!!). Have fun!

I HAVE HEARD THE ALLIANZ GROUP , CLUB MARINE INSURANCE IS GOOD.
IN FACT I HAVE HEARD THEY ARE THE BEST, ANY COMMENTS ON THIS WILL BE WELCOMED.
Note well, RACQ is not agreed value, it is agreed value or MARKET VALUE, WHICH EVER IS LOWEST.
Read your policy document closely.
You say the boat and trailer is worth say $ 10000, and you loose the lot, the assessors job , is to prove to you that it was only worth say $ 6000.
Then the battle begins. Of course you pay the premium according to the sum assured, that you nominate.
The whole process sucks.

DNEJ - you are 100% correct and everyone should note your comments.
All I can say is after 14 days of owning my boat I had to unfortunately exercise my RACQ policy. RACQ were very good in all respects. I got my full cover because I only insured for market value (well 14 days older than market value !!!!).
My trailer was a right off and boat is at the boat "hospital". I will report soon the events that occurred for all to enjoy the lessons - but not til I get my baby back and my sanity returns!!!

Don't go past Suncorp. From personal experience with a fire on board (see previous posts) they were excellent. They were as concerned about our personal well-being as the boat, the Assessor inspected the damage the same week, recommended a write-off of the motor, and had a cheque within 5 days. Outstanding service. Not connected in any way, just happy to pass on positive feedback
Cheers
