Small Oil leak

I just got my new 30hp 2 stroke Mercury ;D
Tonight when i got home from training i notice thin oil on the ground near the propeller. and it was coming from the base of the motor.
Is this normal for a 2 stroke ????

I dont want to lose any sleep for my new baby

Steven it is most probably excess 2 stroke oil from the exhaust witch is centre of prop have a smell of it if it has a strong smell it will be gear box oil take it to a outboard mechanic to get it checked out Dave

Just one more question would the 2 stroke oil be clear?
It just smells like oil to me

mate for a band new motor that is normal
it is just all the oils and jucies running out from the packing
don't lose any sleep over it it should only last a few trips
can come out of the prop and the exaughst on the leg but shouldn't be much
if it is like a 100ml or so then start to worrie and take it back to the dealer ;)

Just an update
I have been told that the gear box has to be replaced :o
The Dealer has been very helpful so far and has given me all of the info i needed.

Good to hear you got it fixed up Steve.
Don't panic these things do happen from time to time.
Quality control is not perfect all the time.Thats why we get warranty. Good to hear the dealer was puntual as well, it is always good to hear about the punctual ones.
