Arrived home to Brizzy from Toronto, NSW this morning at 2.00am :P with my new rig, a Kevlacat 5.2 (funny that a roach had a maroon boat ;D) Serviced today and taking her for a run on the bay tommorrow. If all goes well will be heading up to Stanage/Shoalwater Bay on tuesday to do some serious fishin. Will bring back some pics. Hopefully the rigs up to the job, as Esanda now owns me!
Cheers Deep six

Nice rig mate. What motors are you running and how much did you get it for. Looking for something similar for my offshore\insore travels. Was thinking a smaller 4.9 markham cat (New model). Know that those kevla cats retail from around 72,000 new.

andrew, she's powered by Yamaha 70hp's 25inch legs. Its a used boat & paid 33g for her. Tows well behind my Navara diesel. More info on the boat on this link - http://www.seamedia.com.au/pdf/previews/BTSENG57_prev.pdf

Thanks for the drum Firey. We're up there til the 20th so we may have to stay further north then. Last year we saw some Fllls flying low, a good sight between fish ;D

Hey,
Nice rig mate. Saw it on Boatpoint recently. Love the Kevlacat 5.2
Did you look at many others around. Most (yours excepted) seem to be grossly overpriced and in the 40's.
Im in the market for one eventually, but not ready yet. Would be interested to know your experiences with your search. Any obvious probs with any?
Regards

There's not many on the market & thats why I had to drive so far to get this one. I bought this one from a retired bloke who doesn't fish ??? He's now into sailing and seemed keen to sell. Price started at 37k & eventually got it done to 33.5k. When buying one look for stress cracks around hull supporting braces, if theres any big ones it could mean its had a hard life. Also look for rot in the floor, if there stored in the weather this may occur. Also dont ge one thats overpowered, as it will have too much weight on the transom. I went for a 5.2 as they have the floor area of a 6m mono & the rides just as good, not to mention being more stable. Good luck in your search, Chris. (Also go to www.############# (US site) where theres mpg of the boat in action)

Good buying mate. Well done. We have had one and found it a excellent boat. Kill monos up to 6.5 meters. Only problem with the 5.2 kevlacat is there isn't many options to repower them with fuel efficient light motors. Maybe an etec. 60 hp four strokes are a bit gutless on them. Probably should of kept ours but we are working our way up to a 7m Sailfish or Dominator. Well done once again. Tony.

You can tell it's an American site -
"The original design of the Kevlacat catamaran came from Australia. They needed tough boats that would handle the rough and tumble seas off the western coast of Australia on the Great Barrier reef".

Thanks Perko. Will keep what youve said in mind when it comes to a repower. Have you considered the 6.5m 23ft Kevlacat for you next boat? Know a bloke who has one & they are awsome...........
