bag limits on turtles

i was down the landing last week seen a indigenous person with 6 large turtles in a 3.9 mt tinnie.
legal or not legal.

I thought that turtles where endangered and protected.

Thought indigenous people where able to hunt turtles, but only in traditional ways with traditional tools ...... not tinnies, with outboards. And limited to enough to eat ............. but could be very wrong there

but protected, endangered animals are allowed >:(to be hunted by indigenous ppl for cultural reasons :-X

they are allowed to get a permit and hunt but I thought the prmit was for one only but may be wrong.
