How do you tell if the height of your outbaord motor is correct for your boat? As I understand it there is no one single correct height as boats are different. I there one universal way to test if the height is correct regardless of the boat or motor type?

Highest:
If you are a racer you would raise until the water pressure got to minimum then prop from there.

Medium:
If you have a fishing rig you would raise until about or near where cavitation occurs on medium sized turns at cruise speed then see if it impacts -vely anywhere else, then re-prop.

About in line with Keel:
If you have a ski/tube family fun boat you would raise until just before cavitiation on tight turns becomes too annoying and probably stick with the same prop if it worked OK-ish before, but mostly the height and prop will be the same as when sold new.

There are many individual caveats for instance if crossing bars very often or not running at cruise often that needs to be taken into account to suit the driver etc. cheers nq
