I have a 6.2m Kevlacat and am considering new motors - 115hP. Hadn't considered Optimax since they seemed to expensive, but a dealer has offer two new 2004 models for $20,400. Have always thought i'd go with new two stroke Yamaha and don't know much about the Optimax.

Would appreciate any views on 115 Optimax versus conventional two stroke 115 yamaha and now the new 115 e-tec.

Also, is there a difference with the 2004 model optimax and is the price any good?

That seems a great price for the Optimax.

I think last year Merc released a new 115 that was 3 cylinder that has rave reviews on Boatpoint. If it is the current seems very good. Who is the supplier?

Etec 115 supposed to be released in the Northern Autumn and end up our way in Feb March est price around $13,000

Sorry have no info on the Yammy 115 2 stroke other than what I have read on boards like this. Never a bad word read.

Hey,

Havn't got much to say about the optimax, except that they are a powerful engine (dont know about reliability), but the Yammie 115 2-Stroke is a gutless thing that is one of the worst yammies made IMHO.

I'd go the Optis any time over the Yammie, however the Four Stroke Yammie 115 is a different story, but a bit pricier id say.

Look for a Suzuki, Yammie 115/4 or the Opti.

Seems a very good price for opti's.

recently done alot of fishing in a 6.1 razorline with 150 optimax in hervey bay. we fish reefs in hervey bay that are 60klms so we done a bit of travelling. the optimax comes highly reccomended frrom excellent fuel economy and quiet. the razorline has just been traded in for 625 cruise craft explorer and yes the boat is getting a 175 optimax. A great motor and if you can pick them up for the right price grab them

Moray,

20 odd grand for 2 new115 optis is a bargain, I'm sure mine cost me around 15 for the 2004 model (with/without smart craft gauges :-/, get the smart craft gauges even if it means a bit more cash)

I'll go out on a limb and say the Opti will provide better economy than the yammie 115 2 stroke and the 115 e-tech (judging on the figures I've seen for the 90 hp model)

I'm not a one eyed Merc fan, but when your on a good thing stick to it ;D

IMO, too good a deal to pass up, SIGN !!!

Cheers

Not much doubt on the better fuel economy than the yammie ;) The E-tec maybe different though (in line 3 Vs Vee 4) ???

Greg,

keen to see some figures for the new 115 e-tech. The 90 E-tech is only slightly better than the 115 Opti.
Im not going too far out on that limb, I won't just break the branch, I'll knock the whole F&%king tree over !! ;D
