Awesome tool. THis was released by google today and is fantastic. Satellite imagery of the entire world - find your house (yes the zoom is that good).
You can measure across land and the water - you can enter GPS marks, etc. In fact you can even tilt your view and get 3d imagery. set up a tour or mark favourite spots.

the program needs a reasonably powerful computer to run - but still worth checking out
And another one (not as cool, but still good) http://maps.google.com/maps?spn=68.642578,85.517578&t=k&hl=en

Troy, I paid a yearly fee of $30 when it was keyhole. I guess it's still the same. There's also a pro version for $599 if your keen enough.

I loaded it today, and as far as I can tell, the basic version is free!

Will be interesting to see how up to date the images are. On Keyhole the image of my house was at least 4 years old.

As far as I can gather the images are 2005 - only months old - you can have a look at the development on Nelly Bay Townsville - it's pretty much current.
The version I've been playing with is FREE. To upgrade to higher resolution and GPS support (you can plug your GPS in) is $20 US. Now that's pretty damn good.
Ideally you need a 3d graphics card, but I'm running on an old laptop - 1ghz, PIII and it works okay.
The image above of Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island is possible when you tilt the image - contours of mountains, etc

Being a collage of images it seems that some areas have been updated more recently than others.

The only problem was - you could see my boat parked in the back yard.
Pity because it hasn't been there for nearly 3 months :'(
