Just put an order in for a new 4.55 Polycraft. Before I pick it up in about 5 weeks I am looking at purchasing a new radio, apparently VHF is the way to go? I will be spending 99.9% of the time in the southern Moreton Bay, therefore not going out into open water. If a choose 27MHz can I still pick up weather reports and emergency broadcasts?

Appreciate any feedback I can get.

Hey Bob
This subject has been discussed many times recently and included the area you'll be utilising. Perhaps a search of boating, general and tackle may give you the info you are seeking.

Welcome to the site and I hope you have many happy times on the water.

:) :)

VHF is the go in my opinion. Gives you the option to explore in the future if desired and can catch Southport tower from here which prob. spits out weather reports most often. Can also listen in on ch 21 to the charter and ausfish boyz.
