Hi there everyone, I am wondering if any could help me out with a few ideas on how I may be able to set up my sounder & maybe a GPS in a tiller steer 14ft. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. I am considering making a small consolle and mount it to the side just in front of where I sit but not to big it will be in the way..
Cheers Trent

Trent,
A mate has a sounder attached to a bracket which then is bolted through the oar rowlock mount just in front of him while driving. The Bolt is loose enough to allow the bracket to swivel around to face front if/when casting from forward platform. Works a treat.

Chhers, Roo.

Trent, I use a large jonny ray mount, bent some plate ally and bolt the gear through that and onto the mount, the ally gives some degree of spray and bump protection, those jonny rays swivel 360deg and allows your gear to be removed.

Thank for that Roo, a very simple idea that I think will work great. I will work with that idea for the minute I think and while I am at it I might as well try and convince my wife we need a new sounder to be fitted there to complete the new look.

Rob, where would I be able to get my hands on a jonny ray mount and what may I be looking at for one?

Give TMQ a call Trent, that bracket is 5yr old cost about 60 bucks I think, if you want to fit sounder/gps on the one mount the ally comes in handy by inc the surface area you have to fit stuff on, slightly to small without it.

Hi Tinnieboy
Here's a pic of a console I had made up and fitted myself.
It is fixed to the side ribe and gunnel rail with screws.Simple but effective

Wow Willo that looks great, do you have any photo's that show how you have fastened it to the rib and gunnel rail? That is pretty well what I would like to achieve but have put in the too hard basket so far.
Cheers Trent

Thanks to everyone who has sent me ideas on how to set up my sounder/gps. The only thing is I can't just stop at setting that area up without wanting to tidy up the rest. I am hoping some one out there might be able to give me a few ideas on rods storage. I have two rod holders at the rear outer corners for trolling but was thing of something a lil more secure for while in transit. Maybe its time for a new boat ;D
Thanks Trent

Tin lid. After fishing in a fibreglass boat I'm throwing away my frypan and saving up. The other day I was fortunate enough to fish out of a new Firefly 4.2 tunnel hull and I have to tell you it was so smooth. No clanging or banging and so stable it felt like I was standing on a wharf.
Better still, they're already fully fitted out with casting platforms and tanks and made locally in Gosford NSW by East Coast Yachts - a crowd that knows how to build serious boats. Has anyone else had the pleasure of fishing one of these boats? If you have you will know what I'm talking about. Amazing!

Yeah stu68
I had a few custom things done to my boat when I ordered it, and the front casting deck was built in by Quintrex
