Use construction plywood, 12 mls thick. Cheaper than marine ply.

Make certain you give it a couple of good coats of marine varnish especially the edges and any holes you've drilled.

As an alternative, you could try "synthetic" ply. Bit more pricey but will last the life of your boat.

use marine ply it might be a bit more expencive but atlest you know that it is going to last a life time. you need to take into a count the thickness of timber aseachboat is different. think of the area you are doin and what weight it has to support

agreed you must think about it ,measure and allow for hinges carpet etc, you can even make it out of chq plate alum.also think if you are going to fish barefoot and if you should hide the hinges so you dont burn ya tootsies.
