27Mhz Radio

Is it worth the effort of installing a 27Mhz radio when I already have a VHF? Seems most boats in the club I am in only have 27 Mhz. Space for another radio is pretty limited. I would much prefer to just get a handheld, but they don't seem to exist.

G'day John,

I've picked up a 27meg for just that reason, I had a VHF in the tinnie, but couldn't talk to my mates with their 27 meg. I think even when the 27meg is phased out there will still be friends with them and after all, they aren't that expensive so i'll be running both in the new platey
