Why not leave the bung design as it was and just install the bung from the inside? Not sure about anyone else but ever tried to remove or get to the outside mounted bungs on any boat let alone a pod fitted boat? #

I believe the design was correct in the first place just that some want to install them what is basically the wrong way round.

On close inspection this makes sense.

The flat part of the housing is to fit on the flat part of the inside of your hull (ie the floor)

mount it from the inside and this bung plug setup is even better than you thought.

You will be able to remove the plug with ease from the inside of the hull unless you have a false floor.

Well fellas luckily i have a confined space ticket, and that's what you'd need if you were to fit the bungs from the inside in my case.
I totaly agree that these type of bungs are to be fitted the way they are designed.(screwing the bung in from inside the boat) But in my case, and i'm sure other peoples cases this is not possible.
However, i can't see the problem with putting the diaphram on the other side so that you can screw the bung in from the outside as the valve works in the same manner.

I think i also pointed out that this was only a backup and no excuse for not putting the bungs in in the first place. At least it will buy you some time worst case...

Mantaray's first 2 rules of good boat design.

- Those that design boats that don't require bungs
- Those that design boats with bungs on the inside

Do they drain the boat well? I leave my bungs out to get rid of rainwater and it would be under very little pressure so is it enough to shift the valve?
