What size is the boat? I think from memory it is something like 5.4? I used to take a 4.85m aluminium savage out in 10-15 as it was the norm weather but Moreton Island stopped most of the swell and the chop was ok if I did not go too quick. Outside it was a slower journey due to chop on the swell but I still got there...eventually. 10-15 was the normal winds after a good morning in 0-10kn so it would be good to learn to handle these conditions but I have heard they are a seaworthy boat from a mag review I read a while ago. Congrats on the new boat and look forward to a report. With my new boat I would love 10-15kn on the weather site but lately on the weekends it is far from that with the only good weather through the week >:( What have you got powering the new rig anyway? Regards Scott

If you are talking about the 5.2 m Rumrunner then I used to have one of these and can offer my thoughts . Fully capable offshore boat with nice high sides and a reasonable but not great ride in bad conditions . Used mine for trips out as far as the 36's . Can be a bit wet with spray over the side sometimes when it ploughed into a trough . You should not have any problems going where you are suggesting .

Hi Rubba..Like Chris I had a Rumrunner...exactly as Chris said, capable offshore boat..ONE thing tho..I was ALWAYS weary of a following sea or pulling out behind a large boat(wake)...the boat seemed to "dig in" in the trough..bit scary on occasions...
Like anyways..pick ya dayz..she'll be apples mate...James

Am in the process of fully rebuilding a Rumrunner from the ground up. They are a very capable sea boat so don't worry about testing it out within reason. Post some pics if you can.

I had a Rumrunner. Very capable boat. I've been caught out in up to 30 knotts of weather off Mooloolabah and found it to be more than up to the task.
They get a little rocky because they are not very beamy but when travelling they seem to split a wave with the deep bow.
I seemed to always be getting wet so I put on a really good canopy
