Figured I'd better get the old girl insured even though she's not worth much (boat, not wife), still $4-5K out of pocket would be nothing to sneeze at. I think it's probably worth it, particularly if someone rear ends you in traffic, replacing an outboard and transom would be more than the boats worth. Did an online quote with RACQ which came back as $160.00 for comprehensive based on $5000. I figure $17 per month is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with various boat insurers?

I shop around every year and have owned boats from 4.00m's up to 6.50m's. RACQ comes out competitve every time. I recommend them.
