G'day, I own an older style 18ft cruisecraft half cabin. While we are anchored fishing in any current at all, my boat will sway from side to side. If we have too many lines out they get tangled and the lines are constantly going from slack to tight as the boat sways. Does anyone know of this problem and how do you fix it? I was thinking about using a sea anchor out the back of my boat whist anchored but thought it will get in the way when fishing.

Is you motor down? If not leave it down. Have you got to much weight in the bow? this will make it swing around at anchor. If you do these things and it still swings put out a bucket on a line that will stop it . ;)

It will do it whether the motor is up or down and no i don't have hardly any weight in the bow at all.

Black cans can fix that.Three or four will usually fix the sway. ;D ;D

Try turning the wheel a wee bit in one or the other direction till you see where the rig sits best and leave in that position. Does fix the problem with some boats ey.

Is it drifting side to side, or is it "rolling" side to side?

If it's drifting, then you can try letting out more anchor rope. You possibly don't have enough out...

If it's rolling, then you might find that Trim Tabs could solve your problem.

Just a thought.

The sea anchor will definitely stop it. You just need room to fish around it.
