Bought a new boat 11 months ago and was a bit shocked by how quick I've managed to clock up the engine hours. I must admit that most of my fishing is trolling for billfish but I've managed to put 450hrs on my engine in 11mths. At this rate I'm looking at around a 5 year life span for my 4stk engine.
Was wondering if any one else has managed to put this many hours on their engine or do I just get to do to much fishing?

geez, I thought I was doing well - 4 year old motor - 460hrs. If you're mostly trolling though it will probably last a lot longer - bit like a taxi that's always running.

cheers,

I have around 1500 log book hours on my Johnson 30, could be more, occasionally I forget to write in it. I expect the same or if lucky even double again if corrosion stays away.
Easy to run up hours on smaller engines because they just dont get there very fast.

Holy Crap :o

I wish I could get that many hours up per year :P :P

No such thing as too much fishing as I am aware 8-)
You must work a good roster and get plenty of good fishable weather up there as well ::)

What are the summer and winter water temp averages ?

Cheers
