Can't fault mine, had it for over three years no dramas. In the end my choice was between the 582L and the 600 watt Koden, went with the Furuno in the end because I couldn't find a a Koden to play with and I prefered the Furuno's vertical split screen as opposed to the Kodens horizontal.

I have no trouble holding bottom right through to top speed (a bit better than 40mph) ,as long as the transducer is in conact with the water it will give an unbroken return. The 582 will also let you substitute any of the colours for white and change the background colour,I would be surprised if the Koden didn't also have this feature. The Furuno will also let you select a low power seting (not to be confused with gain) which will make it shallow water freindly.Something else to consider is that the Furuno,Koden and JRC are repairable unlike other units,in my opinion there is not a lot between these units and it baseicly comes down to which one you find has the easiest menu to use.

Had the ff50 in the last boat, was an awesome unit. Could hold the bottom at cruise speed out to around 220m. Trolling on the shelf, it read the bottom down to around 600m. We marked bait down to around 300ish. The only issue i had with it was the temp graph took up a fair bit of the screen.
