Aussie fool,

Look carefully along the edges of the transom both inside and outside for any cracks etc.

If it is front steer check where the driver stands or sits as these areas are normally the ones likely to have cracks.

Walk all over the floor to see if it feels spongey under foot if so do not touch the boat it will be rotten..

As slacky said, have a good look at the hull below the waterline for bubbles which is usually caused by ozmosis. If possible check stringers for signs of moisture / cracks.

If the seller lets you, hop on the leg of the outboard while trimmed out a little to check for softness / cracks in the transom around the bolts.
