Hello ppl ;D,

was hoping for some advise the sealer between the top deck and the hull has turned to rock on my boat and bits of it are failling out when you go thru rough water and waves hit the side of the boat water comes in, so I'm hoping that I can take the old rubber off and reseal the top of the boat to the hull and replace the rubber???

Cheers Chris 8-)

I still maintain the epoxy bog/body filler is the best adhesive

We had the same issue with my old mans Pongrass many years ago.

Filled the channel of the Gunwale rubber up with Sikaflex & pushed it back on. Never looked like comming off after that.

Other than that, take Garry's advise ;)

Have to agree, did the gunwhale rubbers on my old boat with sikaflex, unbelievable stuff, you would be lucky to hit the gunwhale rubber off with a hammer.

I have to agree with spaniard king,I think the 2 part fibreglass/ epoxy is best. The cost of 4-5 tubes of sikaflex[about 16-18 dollars a tube]against the cost of 2 litras of epoxy/ resin,2kg of talc and some hardener.i think the epoxy cures qiuckerand youll get a better result. At the end of the day both work well,oh and don't forget that gunnel rubber shrinks pretty bad, plan to do the whole job in a few hours, before te rubber shrinks back,it will make the whole job a lot easier if you don't let the rubber sit around for a few days.------------ good -luck and cheers ;) :) :) :)
