Just wondering what kinda "mileage" I can expect from this motor. I have a Haines Signature 542F..
I understand the tank is a 96 litre tank... just wondering how many hours (or miles) this would equate to - roughly of course. Would hate to head 40km out to sea, do a bit of putting about and run out of fuel :o

Volcano,

With my rig(580 Haines + 130 Honda) On an offshore trip I get roughly 100klm from 65L.

This will varry depending on wind, sea and how hard you drive it. I use 21L an hour @4100RPM doing 44klm/hr

That seems a bit thirsty Thunderbird.

My 175 Yammie 2 stroke @ 3500rpm uses .7L / km. Has me coasting along at 45-50km/hr depending on wind, sea & payload.

F&B Magazine did a test in Jan 2000 on your identical rig. (ive still got a copy)

They say the 100L fuel tank is Poly, the 150L tank is alloy and the 220L tank is stainless. Do you know if your tank is poly plastic?

542F + Yammy 115 EFI 4stroke with 17" 4 blade prop
2000 rpm = 5.1 Knots #= 1.18 Gal Per Hr #= 4.32 Naut Mile Per Gal
3000 # # # #= 7.0 K # # # #= 2.75 GPH # # # # # = 2.54 NMPG
3500 # # # #= 16.4 K # # #= 3.02 GPH # # # # # = 5.43 NMPG
4200 # # # # = 21.5 K # # = 3.54 GPH # # # # # = 6.07 NMPG (this was the most economical speed)
5000 # # # # = 27.7 K # # = 5.25 GPH # # # # # = 5.27 NMPG

They claim there max rpm with that prop was 5900 to 6100 @ 34 knots

Ive driven a Southwind UB670 long boat with that same engine and we got very similar figures to these using the Navman fuel meter.

You can $BUY the test and see a free preview here :

Or if you send me a PM i can give you some more information #;) ;)

The boatpoint test gives figures of 15 lt/hr at 33.9 km/hr (4000 rpm) and 37.5 lt/hr at 69.9 km/hr (5000 rpm).

So at 4000 rpm on the test boat (5.5m Southwind/Southern Star SR550BR bowrider, spinning a 19in Yamaha stainless-steel prop and pushing a total of 1150kg including three adults), they got 2.26 km/l, which equals 1.22 nm/l (nm = km x 0.54).
