Hi David, I used to own a 1550R. It was a great boat, till the motor spat the dummy and I could not afford to fix it properly, just sold the old girl as is. Many years later the fishing bug struck again and got the 542F. Cant go wrong with the old Haines ;).

Do you have any pics of your new rig specialy the inside cabin, would love to upgrade (to a half cabin) but $$ (I am prepared to accept charity) How big of a donk did you have on the 1550 and what speed where you getting out of here.

How do you find the 542 compared to the old 1550?

Cheers mate for your reply its seems like an lonely club with the 1550

I had a 90 merc on the back of mine. It used to go really well. I would take it out to the 36 out through the pin and seaway. The new rig seem to handle the swell better. It is like when you hit a swell it seems to drag its bum off the back giving a soft landing, where the 1550 would launch off the top and land with a big thump. I suppose its to be expected with a bigger boat. I ahve put this rig up for sale check out http://www.ausfish.com.au/cgi-ausfish/yabb2/YaBB.cgi?num=1133866087 put in a few pics. I think the 1550 used to top out at about 60-65k. Would be good to see some pics of yours.
