It sounds very much like a holden or ford debate. But having never used inboards before, and still hunting for a boat the question has been raised. So I pose the question to you all now for your perls of wisdom and experience.

I am looking at a 7mish mustang 2150 with a mercruiser 4.3 EFI with alpha 1 Leg. I am told they are more thirsty than a comparable outboard, and performace is weaker? But that story just keeps changing with each conversation. I am also confused about the reliability of the leg as that story just keeps on changing.

Still in the dark.
Andrew.

I can't use expletives on this site, so I'll just say "Don't buy a sterndrive". A good number of guys at my angling club have got 'em, or have had 'em (me included), and they end up causing $$$$$$$$ worth of grief. It's not so much the motor itself as all the garbage that hangs off it. By the way, a friend of mine has got a 'Tang of that size, and runs a 225 4stroke outboard. Beautiful.

Thanks for your thoughts. It seems that very few people have anything good to say about them.
