Hi,
I am looking at buying a cat in the 6 metre range and have looked at various boats. One boat i looked at had a single motor which was a volvo penta petrol 140hp.Would this motor be big enough to power this boat at a satisfactory speed ?Also what are the advantages disadvantages singles versus doubles.Would you go inboard or out board
cheers

Friend of ours owns a 23 foot shark cat with a single 170 hp volvo penta deisel stern drive. cruises at 18knots and is fuel efficient at this speed. But with the single engine you do sacrifice handling and manouverability. Not many cats offer single engine format in the 6m range apart from maybe NQ borger cats which are plate alloy construction. Just ask 88fishframe, he has a fair bit of knowledge on these boats but whether you can get a single deisel in these boats is another question I cant answer
