this is where my problems start
I want a boat big enough to head out to the Barwon Banks off Mooloolaba but also do bay fishing with 2 people - what is the minimum size (IMPORTANT FACTOR)
I have no preference for fibreglass, aluminium or plastic - all have their benefits
I want a new motor - probably Suzuki 4 stroke
weight must be under 1.4ton with trailer and motor as that is all i can tow.
I'm happy to buy new or used - but would like to spend as little as possible
I would like a comfortable ride - my friend has a coxcraft rumrunner which takes a bit of a beating in the chop

I've had a heap of recommedations from friends re different brands but I'm lost. Any ideas on what I should look at.

Check out Hainseys rig in the for sale section, 542F Signature, its a nice rig and he runs it out to the banks on occasion judging by his reports.

Cheers and Beers

Start with the 1.4t towing weight and work back. Glass will be heaviest and best ride, but needs more power. You'll get a bigger boat in aluminium for the same weight, generally speaking.
Otherwise it's a tough question to answer. There'll be lots of opinions but I would prefer at least 6m of proven sea handling boat under me to go that far. cheers Steve.
