Describe the "Blueband" cowling colours etc. This will identify the age if it's an Aussie S/No . I can give you a bit of advice on these motors, having owned and worked on them. You can't go far wrong for 1500. Post up a pic.

I am fairly new to the boating game myself but I spent hours and hours reading posts here by many very knowledgable ppl and suggest you do the same before you buy.

You don't get much for $1500 these days, buyer beware, if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Anything around that age up here in Toowoomba go for around the $4 to $5000 mark so make sure you get it checked out by someone who knows where and what to look for in faults.

It costs on average $1500.00 to rebuild a rotting transom if you can't do the work yourself go right over the transomknocking with your nuckles, it should sound solid like solid timber, if you get a different sound in spots just walk away.
Make sure the floor is not springy, (get in it and jump up and down).

Make sure the trailer is the correct trailer for the boat and does it need or have brakes. If the boat is over 750kg you will need a trailer with brakes.(I just got caught this way)

My 90hp Johnson was just rebuilt and cost $4200.00 so get a motor checked out first and an aprox cost.
Don't mean to be a wet blanket but I am guessing you have worked hard to save your money and I wouldn't like to see you get ripped.

Be careful... I spent $2000 on mine, and if you follow the link at the bottom of this post, you can see where it's up to...
