Gents and lasses,

After taking Bogey in the Brissy river a few times over the years she's got a slight browny stain around the water line. Shows up a bit on white paint.

Thinking of giving her a birthday for an impending sale to make her look nice and shiny.

Can anyone recommend a good boat buffing compound for paint over alloy. I'm assuming a buffing pad attached to the drill.

Thoughts.

Brett

Gidday Brett,
Try a hand applied buffing/cutting compound first as the machine applied cutters can cut straight through the paint to the alloy if not carefull. Gently does is a good idea where a surface that is not dead flat is concerned.
Any quality buffing/cutting compound from the auto shops should suit but try a little patch first #;)
Don't forget to seal the paint afterwards with a good polish :)
Have fun #::)

G'day Bugman
First of all, is she 2 pac or powdercoat?. For these stains, and if it's the yellowy stain round the waterline, go and grab some septone drifter, it's a very mild acoid wash and will remove it well. Follow with some meguiars heavy duty oxidation remover(this is a mild cut n polish) and then a hand application of the meguiars one step cleaner and wax. ONLY use foam pads, the meguiars mirror glaze series is what I use. Reason for this is it significantly reduces swirling and is no-where near as harsh as lambswool pads. Follow by a complete washdown with a quality wash n wax. This is my procedure and all my lients are happy;)
