Hi guys, I have just bought my first boat :D ;D, a sea jay 415 delux classic with a honda bf30 4stroke.
I feel that it could do with a little more grunt so i want to upgrade to either a honda bf40 or a bf50 but i dont know what a fair selling/trade in price for my current motor would be...
it has very low hours on it and in brand new condition, could anyone let me know a fair price for it?
Thanx heaps fellas

Hi Bite, best thing is to look around your area and see what new are making and work out a price on your 30 from there!!
Sounds as if you definately need more GRUNT than a 30, had a 4.50 Top Ender and had a 50 4 strk on her , thought I could have gone to a 60!!!
Depends in what type of water your fishing, Creeks Esturays or Bay!!
Anyway mate look around you'll find something to compare yours with. ;)

Be careful, what the maximum h/p on the compliance plate??
It can be decieving what speeds the 4 strokes are actually doing. I just put a Honda on the little boat and thought I was only doing about 30km/h but was doing 40. Must be because of the quietness or something after been used to the 2 stroke.
I'll give you $1500 for the Honda ;)
Just kidding.
Cheers Scott

When fuel will hit $2/l you will be looking to downgrade and the 30HP will be just nice---- enjoy your boating------
