Hi all

I currently have a 445 Dory which has a 50 Hp 2 Stroke on the back.

At some stage i would like to convert it to Centre console.

Has anyone completed this mod before on a similer boat and could they offer pictures etc and ideas.

Can you buy the CC prefab so to speak and mount all of the extra's your self as i would be able to do this myself?

Looking foward to hearing idea's.

Thanks John.

I converted my 445 allycraft from tiller to side console I found I useful to mock up a console out of cardboard first to check dimensions, angle of steering wheel, gauge placement etc then I drew it up and had it fabricated by alloy mob then I had it powder coated.I reckon you get a better job for around the same price of pre fab job mine $450 powercoated.I then ordered steering gear and remote throttle gear through dolphin marine at sunny coast.I went for non feedback steering and non genuine remote throttle. The whole job cost including console cost around $1200.The chandlery you buy the gear off should be able to give advice on how to measure up cables required etc.I will try to attach a photo of console hope this helps

I have also converted a 4.5 m tinny to centre console. There are some pre-fab consoles available from certain chandlerys and certain boat builders. My job cost a bit more as I had the console welded in to the ribs, new steering, throttle controls, new floor, full re-wire to shift the nav lights and sounder. Very happy with the result though.

Thanks guys

Jeremy did you have the standard bench seat in yours?

If you removed them did you replace the floatation material in any form?

Did you have any drawing/sketches of your cc and how do you find the angle of the wheel?

Thanks John

John,

my tinny was actually in survey when I did the conversion, so there was foam under the two bench seats and under the floor. I kept as much of the foam from under the seats as I could and found room under the new floor. I bought my console second hand through the trading post and got it welded in and also some extra bracing welded in where the seats were removed.

Not sure what you mean by the angle of the wheel? Actually the wheel, steering system, control box and throttle cables came with the console. Sorry I don't have any step-by-step photos or drawings, but you would be welcome to come and have a look. I am in Brisbane inner North.
