I have a small tinny about 4 m which hasnt got a flat floor. Recently to make the fishing easier i have decided to put in a flat floor with carpet. The problem is that the tinny has three thwart seats filled with foam and i want to remove the middle on because it limits the amount of room available and will get in the way when building floor. All three seats are filled with foam to help with floatation if the boat fills with water. If i remove the middle seat will it make the boat unsafe?
and is it possible to maybe put some of the foam removed underneath the floor later?
thanks

The height the foam is plays a major part in how the boat floats. If the foam is removed from the seat it should be replaced at Gunnel hieght so the boat doesnt turn upside down when full of water. The other thing with removing the seat is that it will take away the strucual strenth of the hull. It can be done but is not just as simple removing the seat and putting in a floor
