The Yalta has sold, and a lot of people have messaged me asking for shots of what we did to the boat during the rebuild.
It was an absolute mess when I bought it, but with a lot of TLC, some colourful language, a bit of fibreglass and a slap of paint, it ended up ok #;D
Here are the first photos ... as bought.
Tell me what you think.
Cheers
Pete

The front of the boat and the complete underside of the hull all looked like this.
It had been dragged over many a coral bommie :o

Looks like the patchup of my hull will be in good hands, judging by how the 5th photo looked...
Well done mate.

So, the next job is to strip it all down.
... this is the easy bit, the calm before the storm....
Grand_Marlin

WE stripped everything, fittings, carpets, upholstery, cabin lining etc etc etc
As you can see everything was covered in mould, ground in dirt, mildew and moss / slime.
I was starting to wonder what I had bought....

he well ... the glass in the well had literally been torn apart in the corners. The boat had twin 85 suzukis fitted to it (they were stuffed) but the well wasnt wide enough. Where they were bolted on, it ripped the glass in the corner radius. ...... more work .....

Removed the fuel tank ... this photo was taken after it had been cleaned out.
Half a garbage bin of dirt, leaves and sticks.
Suprisingly, the 400l aluminium fuel tank was unaffected by the crap it was sitting in.

So then:
The next step is to close your eyes and hack the back off the boat with the grinder :o

Slap some glass over it, and presto! new transom
I went to the trouble of re moulding the transom to totally enclose it in glass.
From factory, they had an aluminium strip joining the hull and deck mould and a bit of silicone.... useless as an ashtray on a motorbike.
A lot of boats are built this way ... some of the older seafarers and haines's
Keep a close eye on this...

Then just stick the back well on and it is better than new

Super story Pete. The photos tell it all. IMHO I believe if you had shown this stage sequence of photographs to anyone seriously interested in buying your boat, they may have been quicker to make a decision to buy it than it has been for you. Your work looks first class. I look forward to the next rebuild with the sharky! Good luck
