G'day Aussie Angler,

MSQ provides to a formula to work it out.

For boats six metres or over - capacity = 0.75 x length x square root of beam

For boats with a flybridge - capacity = 0.6 x length x square root of beam

Should be around 9 or 10 for non flybridge.

and 7 or 8 for a flybridge.

All on smooth waters ....

Hope this helps

Cheers

Pete

No reason to show off

who is showing off..If you had read the previous post it gave a link to the MSQ capacity labels and if you had read that is says that a 10 metre boat with a beam of 3 m can carry 12 people yet the manufacturer states 10...so there, once again, is some ambiguity in the ratings.
i was just being too lazy to type that...thought maybe people would have read the link...but apparently I was wrong

For info only

SA Maritime Safety Association (SAMSA) have the ruling as follows, for sea going vessels up to 15nm

1 person for every running meter of boat - from inside transom to bow
Flotation / buoyancy must be 60%

If the boat is 4.2 m, then only 4 allowed on board to sea, etc.

If you care .....
