After six months of searching, learning (especially from you guys) testing, reading I have finally purchased a boat.
It's not exactly a dedicated fisher, but I had a few other criteria. (i.e what the wife wanted also).
I will need to add some rod holders, bait board, Sounder and VHF but at the price I picked it up for I cannot complain about it missing those items.
Its a 2005 Haines Signature 500C DLX, a 90 hp Mariner/Mercury 2 stroke (only 32 hours use), bimini and extension with full covers.

Thanks for all the info, see ya's on the water.

Good one FC. One of the few boats that I could get my fat guts thru the front hatch without needing to visit a chiro the next day. Have you wet its head yet?

enjoy

charleville - No name as yet, still thinking about it. At least it wasn't named by the previous owner, didn't want to have to go through the un-naming ceremony (sound painfull).

Alex9797 - Yeah, I agree, one other reason why I bought her. Plus I like how the hatch opens to the port side opposed to towards restingit on the screen.

Cheers everyone.

Nice looking rig and I hope it does the job for you.

Just 1 word of warning, the canopy does not seem to have a lot tying it down against being towed at 100 km/hr. Watch you don't lose it. Even travelling at toip speed and hitting a wake may bend some of those bars by the looks of them.

Look at Argle's canopy, less sail area but held at more points.

Angla - Good point and duly noted, will consider having a strap added to the screen when I take possesion this weekend. Argle's has 2 straps and 1 post each side and mine has 2 posts each side...maybe I like the idea of having a parachute off the back #;D, I was a Paratrooper for several years #:-X.
At 42 MPH (4 up) on the water it didn't move, but your right better safe than sorry with empty pockets.

Cheers

Just to add to what Angla said re: Bimini hold downs, I NEVER tow the boat with the bimini up, it folds down neatly and sits on the back seat so it wont get damaged on the highway (and creates less drag) Only takes a second once at the ramp to put it back up.

Hi FC
I know this is an old post but i have just purchased a 2005 500c almost new(51 hrs). It has a yamaha 80 fuel injected and is really good. I do have some concerns with the weight on teh back as the yammie is 172kg... The boat thends to sit nose high and I think there is too much cavitation. I havent had a boat in a few years and the lst one was a larger boat with a two stroke so Iam not sure if what i have is 'standard' ...... The motor appears to be at the right height, cav plate level with bottom of boat, so my question is 'are u happy with yours if u still have it, what are your likes and dislikes etc....

Thanks
Sal;D
