Hey guys,
has any one got any info as to propping my yammy 200 4stroke to get better fuel figures, I`m currently getting 14.8 ltr/hr ave on the rig which is a 625 cruisecraft.
I do mostly trolling at 3000 revs (18-20ks). Top speed is not an issue but need to keep power out of the hole as i do some bar work.
Currently running the standard 19m yam prop.
Don`t get me wrong I`m happy with current figures but every bit helps these days.
Any advice welcome. :)

cost of a stainless prop of between $500 and $750 with a saving of maybe 1 litre an hour is not worth the trouble, if you was not happy with current hole shot or top end it would be worth looking into. You may well loose fuel econemy if you play.

Edmo, what is max RPM currently getting? My guess should be 5500-6000, closer to 6000. Blaze is spot on, unless you are way off, then it wouldn't be worth the expense. I've done it, with Solas telling me it will improve out of sight, BS, hardly noticeable. Cheers Pete

EDmo,

I have just changed out my SS yammie 19x13 Yammie SS-K prop for a 17x13 SS Solas and great improvement in performance. Getting extra 4 knots in midrange at same revs (now revs out at 5700) not 6200rpm with yammie prop. Out of hole is better and can now run 300-500 rpm lower revs for same speed e.g 25 knots cruise. The Solas prop has about 25% more blade area and also heaps better cupping.

Look on Solas web page for tips on Yammies setup - typically are installed too low on transom so prop will work. Then talk to Steve at Solas about your performance and see what he recommends

Cheers
