I have 98/99 Johnson 90hp the oil mix system has been disabled, but the oil tank and lines are still in place. the oil tank is the size of a car battery and is taking up heaps of room in the stern storage area.

If i just undo it all off the motor will it still run, or will alarms etc go off when i start it?

If the motor is currently running fine with the oil tank empty then you should be OK. The only electrical connection between the oil tank and motor is for a "low oil" sensor in the tank - which I'd say is already isolated if your not getting an alarm...so go ahead and disconnect the hardware.

Cheers

thanks blue

I forgot to mention the tank is 3/4 full of oil.

I will have a look for a sensor wire coming out of the oil tank and trace it.

If the wire is still not disconnected it will probably be a 3 pin plug with the colours black, brown, and purple coming out of the VRO (Variable Ratio Oil) pump which is located on the port side of your engine just behind the airbox off the carbies.

Hopefully this will help you. Cheers Kopey
