Sea Anchor

Can anyone tell me the benifits or disadvantages of tying a sea anchor off the bow while doing a drift when fishing. I usually anchor but have used the sea anchor at times tied off the stern, as most people do. I really want to free up the area around the back of the boat as I have twin motors & with the sea anchor out it gets a bit crowded especially with three of us fishing.

I think alot of people are leaning towards having a electric motor now to slow the drift of the boat down and hold position. I used a sea anchor a bit when fishing out wide and had it tied to the bow so lines ran out the back of the boat if the current was pulling hard they would foul under boat. Having it tied to the stern slowed the drift as there is more area of boat being pulled through the water.

Just my thoughts.
