....have mercury 115 1990 model and when I put the muffs on it seems to take a while for water to come out of telltale......it comes eventually and is strong flow...

.......I notice water coming out down near the gear shaft through a round hole??????what is that?????......

....is there a hole/holes I can inspect first for blockage and can I poke some wire up it to unblock?????

help appreciated.....

I think the 115 hp are similar to the bigger v6's where merc takes the tell tale off the top of one of the cylinder head/s rather than other makes that take the tell tale from the feed water arriving from the water pump.

As the merc uses the connection at the top of the head the whole block etc has to fill before the pressure bilds up and you get flow from the tell tale.

For my merc 150 hp this takes about 10 ~ 15 seconds to fill and prime up from a dry start. If you ave a gauge water pressure should read about 3psi at idle and 12 ~15psi at WOT.

Cheers Mark
