this is #my new boat, 4.8 AMM only had it home 3 weeks, fitted with a 90 4 stroke, have been playing around with props, i have an 18p 3 blade and at WOT its only getting 5400rmp & 67kph GPS reading ( rev range on the merc 5000-6000 ) last W/E tried a 17p 4 blade and still getting 5400rpm WOT but lost 5kph...i have sitting here a 16p 3 blade yet to try and see if i can get the revs up to 5800. any other ideas???? as for the trailer i have to sink it to deep to launch (might have to sell it ) am building a new shed at home and now the council wont allow me to go any higher with the shed >:( #any ways heres a pic

Big Red,
Bloody Cairns City Council Hey!!, may need to think outside the square (or shed as it happens), Build up the ground level around the shed (leaving the inner surface area of the shed at the existing level) and then build the shed on this built up hill area (have a good slope on it so the rain we get here runs away) This will allow you to have the sheds height the same, but will allow more clearance under it!!!!!! ;D ;D If that fails take Kev AKA Yasser Arafit Byrne to the antil discrimination tribunal (he knows where that is) LOL ;D ;D ;D
Seriously through talk to Dave at Quay Marine Mulgrave Rd as they are the local Merc dealers, he will know what to do with props etc.
Cheers,
Fez

Hey Big red,
It's a bit hard to see, but looking at you photo - the trailer springs appear to be on top of the axle. There looks to be plenty of clearance between the mudguards and wheel.
I would recommend putiing the axle on top of the springs - This should lower the whole rig by about 70mm. It's safer to have it this wayin any case - if something breaks - the axle is retained by the springs.
This will make launching/retrieving easier and it might help solve your shed height dilemma.

Hi Mark, yep you are right bout the axel, have been thinking of doing that, also fitting a set of 14" wheels for around the town area

Crackerjack four bladed props never rev as high as three bladers also top end speed won't be as good. they make it up with more drive and maintaining it throughout the rev range. Having said that maybe a 17" picth 3 blade will get you more revs. Quay Marine should be able to sort it out. Nice boat see you on the water. Andrew.

Hi Crackerjack...could be worth checking the height of the cav plate in regards to the bottom of the boat...the cavplate should be just above the water level when the boat is on the plane. #If its low that will cost you both revs and speed over the water. #Raising the motor one hole can make the world of difference if its a tad low...If its too low you may have to raise #it a couple of holes. just thought it could be worth checking while you're sorting props.
Certainly when I raised Flamin Riptide's motor one hole it made a world of difference - put the rev range within WOT and improved the ride no end as well...while picking up speed over water
BTW...she looks like a very nice rig...

thats a damn nice looking boat sepultallica, but 6500rpm is a little much u think, pull me up if im wrong, i have had 2strokes before but never with a RPM gauge ( 40 merc ). that must hoot with the 70 on the back, gotta be happy with that

Max Revs for the Tohatsu should be between 5150-5850 RPM. I would be looking for a prop change to prevent damage to the motor. I can understand a few hundred RPM difference in the range but 700 is a litttle excessive.
