Hey Guys,
I'm just rebuilding a Suzuki 1982 DT50. Outboard - Replaced Thermostat, Head Gasket, etc, etc, etc.

Does anyone know what the tightening torques are for the head bolts?

I'm putting this motor on an old 15" Quinnie which I am currently also re-fitting out.- Making & fitting Ally centre console, Outboard well, raised foredeck, etc, etc.
Picked up the boat, gal trailer and motor for $1100 - someone had started the project - and you know the rest ::)

I'll see if I can start a thread, post photo's etc. - When I work it out. ;D

Any help would appreciated (with the outboard ft/lbs specs)- Thanks.

Mark

G'day
all i could suggest is, short of finding a suzi fanatics website ot trolling thru i-boats, just call the local marine dealer. Thay'd have to have a mechanic there who could tell you what you needed to know?

You could think about getting the manuals online from Seloc.
If I remember correctly it is about 37 US$ for a three year online subsribtion.

They have every procedure with pictures to guide you. Well worth the money mate.

fearing the wrath of the mods ;), just go to google and type in seloc online. Follow the link and hunt down your model engine.

Good luck

Bugger, Just been to seloc - they only have the manuals from 1988 on :-[

Any one know the approx torque settings? Or have a manual they can have a look in for me?

yeah, specs here mate :

1982 DT 50 (cylinder head bolts) - 6mm bolts = 6-8.5 ft.lb. / 8-12 Nm
- 10mm bolts = 29-43.5 ft.lb. / 40-60 Nm

Checked and double checked manual for your peice of mind, although you're on your own from here.
Cheers mate , Pete.

Pete and I are reading from the same manual -- right on.

Had a DT 40 and then a DT 50 for years on my centre consul -- never had an ounce of trouble and they got worked hard -- launching through surf at double Ialand point.

Best of luck with the rebuild
