What year is your outboard manufactured?, Is there a #central information website for dealers to determin by serial number what year was the motor #manufactured?

the year is in the serial number, but, some are sort of coded while others simply have the year in the number

I have an older Mercury and the year of manufacture was not obvious in the serial number. All I did was email Mercury Marine with the serial number and they replied with the date of manufacture. They also sent me an ownership label, which noted the all the details including size, serial number, year of manufacture etc.

So if the serial number is Mariner 0C177974 does it mean its a 97/4 april?

you would have to get someone who knows that brand to be sure, as it also has the HP and shaft length and all sorts of stuff in the serial number

That is what i need ..No one seem to have references to serial numbers which web site for mariner?

there is info iro most manufacture dates, but as luck would have it the page with info re mercury is still under construction. Keep an eye on it as it may come online soon.

It's in swedish or another yurgen furgen language but they have a comprehansive list of serial numbers for most manufacturers.

Triman --- that one is OK that is what i was looking for--- although my motor is not shown I can make a intligent assesment.... Thanks all for your support

OC is about 1990. Could also be late 89 or early 91.

If you are ordering parts.. You will need to know the exact year of Mfr.
