Can anyone please tell me what size trim tabs would be suitable for a V19 haines with a pod fitted. Have looked at alot and read a bit about them from the supliers but it they seem to contradict each other as to size needed. If i can get an idea i can start to see if i can fit them in the space.

Go the Bennett M120's. Hydraulically controlled, strong, easy to install and great service backup - should be around $800. Work fine on my Signature 600, however make sure you have enough room above the tabs to mount the ram.

I was leaning towards the Bennetts but was't sure of the size needed.

Thanks for the pics snappa , might just have to do a bit of rearranging to fit them in. If they could be fit on the outside , is it more advantageous to have them as wide as possible in regards to performance ?

I have been looking at the Bennett web site and they have short rams if you need them. I would still like to know how long the standard rams are as i couldn't find the info on there site.

I've got a set of Bennetts M80's on my boat, and the size of the ram fully retracted is 11 inches or 280mm. #My boat measures 6m from the tip of the bow to the end of the tansom.

Hi Garpe,

Mate wouldnt have a clue on the size but you should seriously have a look at the new QL trimtabs made by Volvo Penta. My dad has a set on a 5.7 mt Trailcraft. they are amazing! and they dont stick out and look like a big cunk of metal on the back of ya boat. They are only about $100 more than your standard trimtabs aswell.

Cheers

p.s. www.qlmarine.com (its under the trimtabs section then BOAT TRIM SYSTEM)

Thanks crazy
A mate got a set but has'nt fitted them yet. I've been on the phone about a price, so i'm checking them out.
I can't see how they would assist in better fuel economy as they seem to work on a vortex (drag) system instead of a planing system. If anyone has any facts or figures on comparison before and after it would be great to hear from you.

Garpe,

Havent really done any testing but on the trailcraft running a mercury 135 optimax with them down we average 1ltr per nautical mile

I'm doing up an old Haines V19 and still not sure of 150/175 Suzi, How does your 6mt go with the 140. The bloke selling it to me says the 150 will be plenty but ive had a few people question that'. I would rather spend the extra than have an underpowered boat as most of my fishing will be 70-80klm outside.

The 140hp Suzuki on the 6m sig is OK I guess. Top speed is around 33 knots (64 km/hr) and hole shot is no problems. Sometimes I wish it had a bit more speed, but you would rarely be able to use it on the open sea.

Any idea how much those Volvo ones are?

They look pretty spic, was considering the Bennets but I might have a better look at these
