I appologise in advance if this has already been covered - but I really would be interested to know what / how everyone is flushing their outboards with fresh water at the end of the day whilst enduring the illegalities of using a hose??
Are people flushing their outboards with muffs and hoses under the cover of darkness like me?
I appreciate we are in a drought and we must conserve - but our investments must also be looked after and I dont think a 3min flush of fresh water on a 10k+ investment is being too naughty...??? I wonder what the council would say??
I know you can buy massive collapsable buckets to run the outboards in, but the water taken to fill this would be as much as flushing the motor anyway I would think... and you can't move it once full to store it to use again due to the weight.
Your thoughts would be appreciated...
Brad.

Hubby is right, in most places (at least NSW) you are allowed to use the hose to flush boat motors and hose brakes, so mate, you can do it with the light on from now on! ;D

Link to Brisbane City Council fact sheet below. You can flush your outboard at any time under level 3 restrictions. (4th category listed on the factsheet)

i spoke to gold coast council about useing my pressure washer to wash my boat instead of useing buckets
i was told it is ok to hook your pressure washer up to the bucket
so i put a hose connector into the side of a 20lt bucket and i hook up the washer to that
i just leave the bucket under the tap and fill when required
i only used two buckets full last time i washed the boat , i think i would have used more if i was just useing the bucket and throwing water around
you can also flush your motors with the hose
cheers

Up here at Caloundra.. We flush our motors.. leave the hose running while we chat to neighbour.. Wash driveway down.. #water with hose during the hot sun..
Yep we're Wallys up here.. Until the day comes that we have 29% like Brisbane.. They we might learn to save water.... :(
Just like a good Scotsman--- Haggis proud of ya

Hi all
this has been posted before
anyway i always use a flush tank in the first flush.
i use 2ltr White vinegar (no name branded cheaper) this keeps the corrision down to a min if any
then add 3 ltr coolant to the water so as to place a tefflon coating back on the inside of my motor every trip
i also use a lanoline spray for the motor every 3rd trip i decrease motor wash off then hit it with lanoline spray or W.D.40
this keeps the motor in excellent condition and by using flush tank you can also keep an eye on the impella(water-pump) cleans the sand and mud out
but keeps motor longer if boat sits for a while not used
i always add 1ltr of metho to tank and always add 50ml extra to 130ltr tank for extra lube on rings
hope this helps
Cheers ;D ;D

I've got an old 4x3 garden shed, that I push the arse of the boat into, and flush and wash the springs etc. Water restrictions are for outdoors only, no restriction of water use indoors. (Which the arse of my trailer is)
