G'Day all,

After having broken yet another set of trailer clearance lights (the mudguard ones), I am looking to mount a new set.

Has anyone got recommendations on which ones have worked well?

With high mudguard vibration and eventual corrosion of the terminals, the reliability of mine has been fairly low so far.

I would prefer not to use LED due to cost but could be persuaded I guess.

Peoples views????

How are they getting broken.

We have had clearance lights on our car trailer for 25 years.

They are a complete rubber set up the lenses just pop in to the rubber.
Then they have a steel sheild or cover welded over the top.
So nuthen can knock them.

Go LED.
Priced some the other day. They were only about $15 each for clearance lights.

Darren, as Finga said, the LED clearance lamps are only $15-20 bucks.

Bit of a pain soldering them in, then heatshrinking them etc etc

Just did a full set the other day for a customer and I reckon it was 2+ hrs to do the lot :(

But they are better lights.

Cheers,

Nicholas (on borrowed time)

G'day
Go LED. When you do, you will wonder why you didn't sooner.

Well LED certainly looks the way to go.

Ironically, I went out at lunchtime and had a look in BIAS Boating at Virginia.

No luck there, only tail lights and blinkers etc.

Drove out their driveway and noticed there is a truck parts place next door.

So I went in and asked if they had anything suitable.

He put me onto LED side clearance lights, one side red and one side amber. Magnificent, they are fully sealed and only $20 each.

Will be mounted tomorrow night.

Beany , just put 2 narva forward and rear adr approved led clearance lights on .
$ 18.50 a side , about 1 m of cable, lights in moulded housing , i have dunked them twice , they look great at night under water .
I ran pvc from front of trailer to crossbar where lights are near , and so far it is working well.
Regardless , led , i will never go back to normal globes .
Do it....
