Hi Guys,
I need to pick your brains...had an awesome trip around the islands on sunday-motor performed well as usual from warm up to right out. However, after a fish I started her up ,was ok at idle but as i put it in forward gear-no revs- I heard a "puff" :o and engine stalled. Has repeated this three times in exact situation since, yet purred all the way home . Any suggestions there ?
Cheers, Pete.

mabye check the gearbox, or have a look at the throttle responce. give the carby a clean because stalle petrol and grime build up in the carby after a while, so its worth giving it a clean.
::)

let us know how it goes

cheers

Take the plugs out and clean them with carby clean.
Only takes one fouled plug to make it hard to keep running once you put it in gear.

Are we talking a two banger.

Sounds like she's running a bit lean :o

Could need a carby clean, was the fuel old/stale also you may have an air leak in the inlet manifold system.

Some one decent on carby tunning should be able to pick it up quickly.

I'd say the same thing. Its most likely the carbies.
my engine did exactly the same thing yours is, exactly the same!

Had it serviced, and all that was done was flush the carbies out, and tune up the idle revs....

she now runs like a dream..

I was lucky it was just a flush, didnt cost me anything, but doing a full carbie clean can get a bit $$.

(p.s. make sure you dont have really old fuel in the tank either).
