Hi guys, 1st time virgin chat. #Hope someone can help. I'm thinking of puting an outboard on my old faithful Chivers Seamaster. She's in good shape but the inboard, V6 Volvo Penta 175hp 290 leg (already been reconed), which is on her last legs. I was thinking of a bolt on or pre made Pod with a 225hp 4 stroke? Has anyone tried this? If so, is there a bolt on pod available, FG or Ali, does she sit OK in the H2O. Anyone with pics?

Bolt on pods are available from many suppliers.

Here in Melb Don Shields of Aquaflow Fibreglass makes pods for $660. Not sure what the freight would be to your region, perhaps $50-100 max?

I have fitted a couple of these and they work quite well. Sorry no pics.

I usually set the pod as low as I can get it (close to the keel) and then use a 25mm alloy plate to mount the engine to the pod so I can get the height right.

Cheers

Thanks BM, it's a start. What size boats did you apply the pod to? Chivers Seamaster is 21' with dry weight around 2.1 tonne.
