Hi All,

I see there are lots of fishing clubs around, but I'm looking for something a little different. Does anyone know if a family orientated "cruising club" exists in SE Qld? (not hull brand specific ala Whittley Club) I am looking for a club that organises overnight cruises with like minded people. You know everyone meets at a certain point and time then following a lead boat, everyone heads to a predetermined overnight spot, where copious amounts of socializing is done, before cruising home the next day. ;D ;D

Anyone know of any clubs around like this???

Cheers

no replies yet!

don't have any first hand experience with boat clubs, tho the yachty type clubs do that sort of thing.

there's the Redlands Boating Club down my way, they might be worth a call, they have articles in the local rag.
otherwise it's never really been my thing, a good idea tho.

I though with all the hundreds of boats one sees when around the pin and broadwater, that there would have been a much better response to my question!!! :o :o

Found the Redland Boating Club website thanks for that gelsec.

Maybe I should suggest a trip and see what happens??? Problem is with only 2 replies here, means maybe there is no interest in this sort of thing. Might just be a 2 boat trip. Shubee and myself!!! :-/ :-/

Cmon Guys and Gals, surely there MUST be some socialising going on out there?? :o :o

Cheers

Hey Epoc,

Moreton Bay trailer boat club might be worth a try.

Mate I try to get out most weekends ( I have to somehow justify the storage costs ). Most of the time I have a couple of little kids on board so tend not to take the fishing too seriously. Happy to meet up with other AF's. There is a M&G on Eka day.

see ya there

Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club at Manly has inshore and offshore fishing groups that meet on a regular basis and fish together as a group. Its an excellent facility right on the water and I can recommend the Sunday morning Breaksfast too!!!

Cheers and beers

Hey epoc,

For what it's worth, I reckon it's a great idea. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm no where near you, then I'd definitely be putting my hand up. Like Alex9797, we also have some young kids, so attention spans on those occassions often don't allow the best fishing outcomes!

We previously had a trailer/sailer and there generally is a pretty good community amongst them - only problem was my kids would get frightened under sail when the boat heeled over, so we ended up motoring all the time. Flogging a 9.9hp merc to get a max speed of 5 knots due to displacement hull wasn't my idea of a good time, so we changed over to a trailable power boat! Now we can easily cruise river/lakes or the gulf and don't have to pay for marina berthing fees.

In any case, good luck - I hope you can get something together!

Cheers, Bo.

It took me about 11 months to go from assoc membership to full membership in the Redlands Boat Club. Nice bunch. Good Fri night cheep meals. The ramp and pontoon are excellent,...and lock up and wash down facilities are worth the membership cost alone, particularly for over night stays.

Just wanted to let you guys know, who are keen for a social weekend away, I still plan to organise something and will do through this site. I guess I'm waiting for a little warmer weather to arrive as swimming is a prerequisite to a fun weekend for the kids. ;D

Cheers
