Out of curiosity, I understand the benefits of snorkels on 4x4's but what is the purpose or what do they prevent on a cat?

Cheers.

Them there cats can spray up a lot of water. And with a bit of following wind your motor can ingest some sea spray and that salt water ain't going to do the bores any good.

The yellow boat in the above photos had snorkles fitted for bar crossings. Mainly to prevent the engines ingesting water if it got a wave came over them.
