Hi everyone,
Are things changing in our fishing fraternity--Fuel shock-- lighter boats ---selling and getting out Buying and getting sick of it soon after. Does the investment cost warant the little gain.... is fishing and boating a passing fad.. #Most people i see fishing #regularly are retired singles and couples..

What is your experience...

Cheers

Well a lot depends on what you fish for and where you fish.

What is the smallest boat that you can safely use for your purpose. When you retire or are disabled those type of considerations mean a lot.

Also do you need to transport with your camper or caravan and will it do the job.

Lots of considerations but for me after eight boats.

Its a 3.7 Quintrex traveller with floors and casting deck. 15HP Yamaha, 55 Bow Mount Autopilot Minn Kota. Two trailers a normal one for long distance and a Bulldog folding trailer to go with boat on top of camper.

The other fishing rig is a 14ft Canadian Canoe with 40lb Minn Kota Riptide. This motor doubles with the other electric for restricted impoundments. Works fine for the Retiree.

I fish estuaries, rivers and impoundments. So think I have the job covered for what I want to do.

you only have to look out on the bay when it's a nice day to see that boating is not a passing fad. boat ownership is supposed to be at an all time high at the moment too. i reckon a lot of people probably struggle to find the time for fishing, i know i'm one of them. i go boating reasonably often but very rarely fish these days simply because the 2 girls in my life (one little and one not so little) aren't interested in fishing but love to go out in the boat. this mean't the fishing boat has been sold and replaced with a bowrider. before marriage/family however myself and good fishing mate used to get into it a fair bit. now he gets to fish every day the lucky b@st@rd and i don't. one day soon i'll get back into it but for the moment i'm quite happy to sit on the beach at moreton with a beer and wonder what the "rich" people are doing as my boating trip. :)
